Gilbert Leadership graduated its 26th class. This class conducted a community project that provides two exchange zones to create areas for residents to exchange goods purchased online and for parents to conduct child custody exchanges in a well-lit environment under digital surveillance. Another great partnership to keep our community safe!
During our Partners In Progress roundtables with Mayor Jenn Daniels and business leaders, the need to serve Gilbert’s manufacturers arose. While the Gilbert Manufacturers Council is new, the group has already begun work on developing resources for apprenticeship programs, stackable credentials, and reaching out to students about the opportunities in the manufacturing career field.
The Chamber’s Partners In Progress initiative, in close partnership with the Town’s Office of Economic Development, hosted several business roundtables, the Mayor’s Economic Forecast and Red-Carpet Tour, and volunteers completed its annual Business Walks effort to better understand the needs of our business community.
The Business & Education committee hosted the Business & Education Summit and celebrated the third of the Tours For Teachers program with 17 graduates – those graduates impact more than 1,900 students every day. We are making a difference in introducing workplace skills to our students. These groups continued partnership with area colleges and our local high schools to match 93 students who logged more than 800 hours of career shadowing and mentoring.
We will bring together a Technology Council for local tech leaders to share ideas and resources.
